i think this is pretty much done. i am going to go get a test print of this now and see how it looks before i send it to gotprint.
Now Austin local-organic-gluten free-low carb-fair trade-ethically treated-grass fed ART.

so today i decided to try painting FOR FUN!!!!!! oh man when does that ever get to happen!!!?? no really i love my work and i enjoy every bit of my homework (excluding art history). i did each of these in about an hour. i have been looking at a lot of concept art recently especially that of ashley wood. his colors and use of texture is so great. plus his sort of "lets pretend to be super serious concept art and then throw in a kitten fighting a giant robot" subject matter is great too. i started out with some black shapes and tried to carve them out into something that i thought it kind of looked like. add lights and darks and a good background and . . . yeah. the first one is i guess some giant one eyed bunny zapping some girl's head and making it smaller . . . and her shoulder too big . . . and dont even ask about her left arm . . .im not crazy i swear! and the second one is well . . . i like dinosaurs ok! i will add more detail to them as i get more free time.

If you are an art director and you are reading this, (first of all awesome!) expect to be getting something like this in the mail from me in the near future. . . along with hundreds of other ones from every other illustrator looking for a job . . . but theirs don't have giant fish monsters on them! anyway i think i will go with the one on the bottom but i will add a guy holding on for dear life to one of the fishing rods. probably gonna do it in some combination of gouache and acrylic and ink 'cause i'm tired of staring at a computer screen all day long. he says while blogging . . .

Here is the linework for my next digital painting which i will do in both painter and photoshop (Rob Macdonald this one's for you!) It is a poster in support of the N.E.O. or the Near Earth Object program run by NASA. they look for asteroids or other bits of space junk that are on collision courses with earth in an attempt to prevent what happened to the dinosaurs from happening to us. i may or may not lose some or all of the clouds. i like them but they are a bit distracting from the main shapes of the design. plus its like a poster and its supposed to be like all graphic and stuff.
